National RPO hosts Conference and Congress

The 26th Conference and Congress of the National Red Meat Producers’ Organisation (RPO) will be held on 16 en 17 August 2016 at the Khaya Ibhubesi Conference centre in Parys, Free State Province.

The following guest speakers will be performing at the Conference, namely Mr JP Landman with the theme “Challenges to overcome in the agricutural sector within the macro-economic environment”;  Mr Ernst Janovsky will give an economic overview;  Dr Mike Modisane, President of the OIE will give a speach on South Africa’s animal health status within the guidelines of the OIE;  Mr Chris Sturgess from the JSE will give an input with regards to  “Futures markets in the red meat industry”;  and Mr Alex Cilliers will give a presentation on the sustainability of the sheep value chain.  The RPO will again add value to their members with Mr Hein Wagner as the motivational speaker.  The ladies will also be treated with a very special ladies programme.

The Congress will address important and current affairs and this include the Red Meat Industry Forum, an investigation for an additional beef quality system, exports, the current drought in South Africa and a livestock census for South Africa.

This event provides primary red meat producers with the opportunity to speak on an interactive and social platform, important and topical issues in the red meat industry.
