TWEE VEEDIEWE VAS IN MPUMALANGA
Die Mpumalanga RPO berig dat twee veediefstalsake pas afgehandel is in die hof op Ermelo.
Die eerste saak het gehandel oor ‘n voorval tydens September 2023, toe die beskuldigde probeer het om twee vermoedelik gesteelde beeste by ‘n veeveiling op Ermelo te verkoop. Hy is op aanklag van die besit van vermoedelik gesteelde beeste in hegtenis geneem. Die eienaar van die twee beeste kon nie opgespoor word nie aangesien die beeste nie behoorlik gemerk was soos duer die wet vereis nie. Die beskuldigde is in die Distrikshof skuldig bevind op ‘n klagte van ontvangs van gesteelde vee en is tot drie jaar gevangenisstraf gevonnis.
In die tweede saak is daar gedurende Oktober 2023 agttien skape uit die kraal van ‘n boer, Johan Blignaut van Lothair, gesteel. ‘n Verdagte is in verband met die agttien gesteelde skape by Warburton in hegtenis geneem ná verskeie persone gehelp het om die gesteelde skape te soek. Die beskuldigde het in die Streekhof skuldig gepleit op ‘n klagte van diefstal van vee, skuldig bevind en gevonnis tot ses jaar gevangenisstraf waarvan drie jaar opgeskort is vir ‘n tydperk van vyf jaar, met voorwaardes. Die beskuldigde sal dus ‘n gevangenisstraf van drie jaar uitdien.
Die Mpumalanga RPO het die VDE Ermelo, die NVG Ermelo (aanklaers), sowel as personeel van die veiling en alle ander persone wat betrokke was by dié sake, bedank.

TWO STOCK THIEVES SENTENCED IN MPUMALANGA
The Mpumalanga RPO reports that two stock theft cases has recently been concluded in the court in Ermelo.
The first case pertains to an incident during September 2023, when the accused tried to sold two suspected stolen cattle at an animal auction in Ermelo. He has been arrested on a count of ownership of suspected stolen cattle. The owner of the two cattle could not be traced because the cattle were not properly marked as prescribed by legislation. The accused was found guilty on a count of receipt of stolen livestock and was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.
In the second case, 18 sheep were stolen from a sheep kraal belonging to Johan Blignaut of Lothair. An accused has been taken into custody in Warburton, after various persons helped to locate the stolen sheep. The accused pleaded guilty in the Regional Court on a count of theft of livestock; he was found guilty and sentenced to six years’ imprisonment of which three years has been suspended for a period of five years, with conditions. The accused will therefore serve a prison sentence of three years.
