The free-on-board price for July 2024 was R45.92 p/kg. This represents a decrease of 7% in price per kg if compared to July 2023. The major imports originated from Namibia with 443 tons.

 

Live weaner imports for July 2024 amounted to 29 649 units. This represents an increase of 49% if compared to July 2023. The price was R 6 888,75 per unit, which is 5% higher than July 2023.

 

Sheep meat imports for July 2024 amount to 621 tons. This represents an increase of 226% if compared to July 2023. The free-on-board price was R24,73 p/kg, which is 35% lower than the July 2023 price. The major imports originated from Australia (410 tons).

 

Live sheep imports for July 2024 amount to 72 675 units, representing an increase of 17% if compared to July 2023.The price was R975,53 per unit, which is 20% lower than the July 2023 price per kilogram. Namibia was the major exporter to South Africa with 72 566 units.
