Met die viering van die wêreldwye ysterbewustheidsweek het Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) by die wêreldwye inisiatief aangesluit om bewustheid te kweek oor die deurslaggewende rol wat Australiese rooivleis in ‘n gesonde dieet speel.

 

As the world celebrated world iron awareness week, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) joined the global effort to raise awareness about the pivotal role that Australian red meat plays in a healthy diet.

Met die viering van die wêreldwye ysterbewustheidsweek het Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) by die wêreldwye inisiatief aangesluit om bewustheid te kweek oor die deurslaggewende rol wat Australiese rooivleis in ‘n gesonde dieet speel.

 

Hierdie jaarlikse veldtog, wat van 14 tot 20 Oktober 2024 plaasgevind het, het ten doel om die belangrikheid van voldoende ysterinname en die impak daarvan op globale gesondheid uit te lig.

 

In die jongste verbruikersentiment-navorsing van MLA is Australiese verbruikers gevra of hulle hul rooivleisverbruik in die afgelope 12 maande verander het. Die reaksie was dat 76% van metropolitaanse Australiërs dieselfde hoeveelheid eet of hul verbruik van rooivleis verhoog het – die hoogste vlak sedert die navorsing 15 jaar gelede begin het.

 

Die belangrikste redes waarom mense aangevoer het om meer rooivleis te eet, is:

  • Dit is ‘n bron van proteïen.
  • Dit is ‘n bron van yster.
  • Hulle hou net van vleis.
  • Dit verbeter gesondheid.

This annual campaign, which took place from 14 to 20 October 2024, aims to highlight the importance of adequate iron intake and its impact on global health.

 

In the latest consumer sentiment research from MLA, Australian consumers were asked whether they have changed their red meat consumption in the last 12 months. The response was that 76% of metropolitan Australians are eating the same amount or have increased their consumption of red meat – the highest level since the research started 15 years ago.

 

The top reasons people gave for eating more red meat are:

  • It is a source of protein.
  • It is a source of iron.
  • They ‘just like meat’.
  • It improves health.
