NAKOP GRENSPOS ERVAAR UITDAGINGS

NAKOP BORDER POST PRESENTS CHALLENGES

The Nakop Border Post is currently experiencing challenges due to staff shortages in the Department of Agriculture. Since 1 May 2024, there has been certain hours when no officials are available, and this has an effect on the livestock at the border.

According to Nazareth Appalsamy, Manager of the Farm Animal Unit of the NSPCA, several livestock trucks have already been delayed for several hours – resulting in the NSPCA being inundated with complaints.

Given these circumstances, the NSPCA urgently request farmers and stakeholders to collaborate closely with Nakop Border Post to coordinate staff availability. This coordination is crucial to ensuring the welfare of livestock and minimising long waiting periods at the border post. Effective communication between all parties involved will facilitate smoother operations and help mitigate potential delays.

For any inquiries or assistance, please contact the Agricultural Department at Nakop Border Post at the following numbers: 076 481 4672 or 072 591 1405.
