RPO AND FEDERATION OF PRIMARY RED MEAT PRODUCERS’  ELECTS NEW MANAGEMENT

At the recent meeting of the RPO Executive Council, Dr Pieter Prinsloo of the Eastern Cape was elected as 1st Vice-Chairman of the National RPO and  Mr James Faber of the Northern Cape was elected to 2nd Vice-Chairman.  Mr Koos van der Ryst was already elected as new Chairman at the national Congress that was held in August 2016.

The RPO Executive Council is very excited about proposals that were adopted and which is in line with the RPO’s objective of increasing the profitability of the primary red meat producer.  These proposals include export possibilities as well as the establishment of an additional voluntary beef quality system that will function parallel to the current classification system.  The red meat produced in South Africa is of high quality and the RPO assures consumers that South African red meat is of high quality, healthy and safe.

The annual meeting of the Federation of primary red meat producers’ consisting of the RPO (commercial sector) and NERPO (emergent sector) was also held and Dr Pieter Prinsloo was elected as Chairman with Pastor Paradise Mahlangu as Vice-Chairman.  The two gentlemen will serve in this capacity for a period of 2 years.
